Fluxus Box
"Journey through a Crypt" The materials used for this project consist of: foam core, pins, glue, tape, Bristol board, acrylic paint, hot glue, Mod Podge, string, cardboard, spray paint, duct tape, beads, shells, paper mache, and tissue paper. The dimensions for this piece are 12 x 24 x 16 inches. This sculpture, "Journey through a Crypt," reflects on the idea of morality and what it means to live a meaningful life. I wanted to visually communicate a story that represented both life and death, and what you do in between those stages. Throughout this design process, I knew that I wanted to construct my box as a crypt; although creepy and mildly unsettling, I felt that it would communicate my ideas best. The box itself was the easiest part; designing objects for the interior was my biggest challenge. I eventually settled on a star chart compass, extinguished candles, a heart, and a charm.
